Oh good god!

February 3rd, 2009

After much trouble with a company that I ordered a lens from, it finally turned up today. Now, before I purchased this lens I did review it and compared it against another lens that I was looking at. I even spoke to a couple of other photographers that use the lenses I was looking at and got information from them and went to a camera shop to try one of them out. In the end I went with the advice I had been given and opted for the lense that I hadn’t been able to hold. I had imagined it to be the same sort of size as the one that I did try, after all they did virtually the same sort of range. All I need to say now is I was wrong about the size, this thing is massive! No, really its big, to give you an idea I’ve taken a couple of pictures with it next to my Tamron 70 – 300mm lens. This thing is the same size but only does 24 – 70mm (see pictures below).

Top down view. Left is my zoom lens (70 – 300mm) and right is the new Canon lens (24 – 70mm)

I’m not even going to show the difference in the size of the lens hoods, it’s just rude!

Aye F2.8L, its looking all shiny and lovely sitting on my desk at the moment. The only thing is that when mounted on my camera body it dwarfs it!

I’m so happy all I want to do is run outside and test it out.
